Engine temp sensor
« on: March 29, 2014, 02:15:04 PM »
I'm trying to figure how to. Fit an engine temp sensor.
The Vapor computer is set up foe one- I know. The speed sensor wire broke on mine so I sent it in to TrialTech (just a few hours away ) to have it repaired and they tested it. I couldn't find the connectors locally.

The only issue, there is already one wire going into the temp sensor connector from the bike.
The temp sensor has two wires, so no clue what this one does.
It is a brown wire, I have not traced it yet to see where the heck it goes.
Still no wiring schematic seems to exist.

Anyone done this?

Plus I recommend putting a tie-wrap on the bike side of the speed sensor- it moves around a lot with the wheel going up and down- maybe what broke mine.

Trail tech has a variety of sensors that you can purchase.  An inline cooling hose temp sensor is one option.

Yes, and I know which one to plug into.
The problem is, there is already. A wire plugged into That one!

I did a bit of tracing, the brown wire goes to a tripple connector under the  regulator- that appears to go to another connector and ch ages  colours. No idea after that.

I don't. Know what  it is for.

Ok, more info.

The brown  wire (bike side) goes into the Vapor engine temp input.
The other end of they brown wire goes to the bike engine temp, sensor (on the head) and the ECU.

I'm trying to find out if the Vapor temp sensors have one wire or two.
But it looks like the bike is setup to have an engine temp readout.
I know my Vapor will work for that, since they tested it at TrailTech when repairing the plug.

So...does anyone have a  Explorer that the engine temp readout works?
